The family is the natural, essential component of society, it is the only social group defined by biological and natural determinations, the only group in which the bonds of inbreeding and love acquire an essential importance. The family is the most important chain of transmission of cultural principles from generation to generation. Family responsibility for educating children is essential to school success. In children with special educational needs, the level of collaboration and participation of parents with the school is often directly proportional to the child's school results. Modern child-centered psychopedagogy presents the fact that the family is the first educator in a child's life. Families of children with SEN are often responsible for their children throughout their lives. The very important role of the school is to support families in trusting their personal resources, in order to be able to cope with the difficulties they will face. The involvement of families in improving the education of children with SEN has led to many effective changes, often in totalitarian ways. In Romania, families together with associations of persons or parents of children with disabilities have essentially contributed to the adoption of measures to improve the quality of schooling of children with SEN, especially after 1990. The child with special educational needs adapts to interpersonal relationships, which makes parents act as mediators between the child and strangers. Sometimes parents may exaggerate the inappropriate reactions received from an unknown person, making a false impression about what the person wanted to say.
