Abstract

The evolution of today's society has brought with it a widespread phenomenon in the population, namely depressive disorders, spread regardless of age, background or educational level. Depression brings with it another trait, anxiety, as a symptom of depression. The transition from one stage to the next is traumatic for some people. Retirement being seen as a final stage of transition, is an emotionally charged stage of ending an activity and finding current status. Job loss, retirement, being a stressor, seen as a traumatic event. This paper aims to investigate possible risk factors for depression and the level of resilience at retirement age. The main role in this stage is attributed to depression, and it is associated with anxiety, resilience having the role of reducing the effects of depression and anxiety, and the integration of healthy coping patterns.
