Personality and temporal perspective in adolescents

Abstract

This paper presents the theoretical and methodological aspects of the relationship between temporal perspective and personality dimensions. The aim of this research was to study the relationship between Big Five personality traits and the temporal perspective during adolescence. It has been shown that personality is not stable, as was previously thought, and can undergo transformations, especially during adolescence, because it is the period of life in which the most important changes take place that can have effects throughout life. Adolescence is one of the most important life in which most changes take place both physically, emotionally and cognitively, it is a tumultuous period full of emotional charge, in which the decisions that adolescents make can have everything. throughout life. Adolescence is also the bridge between the life of a family-dependent adolescent and the autonomy he or she acquires in the future as a developing adult. The present research was conducted on a sample of 332 high school students from 12 high schools in Constanţa County. The aim of the research is to study the effect that personality traits during adolescence can have on the perspective of time, and how they can influence our future plans.
