Abstract

For juveniles who have committed crimes, international law provides punishments and educational measures within the community. The effects of incarceration have negative consequences, leading to the increase of the risks of continuing the criminal career. The probation system generates new opportunities for integration, reintegration and socialization in the community of those who are in conflict with the law. The special role of the probation counselor lies in mediating the reintegration of the minor in the community to which he belong, promoting his active involvement. The paper aims to highlight the role of the probation counselor in the supervision and social reintegration of the juvenile offender.
