Emotional adaptive dificulties for institutionalized elderly people

Abstract

Much can be said about the quality of life in institutions. But we can talk about a series of psychological changes with a negative impact on the institutionalized person, which, associated with the reason for hospitalization, with the state of old age and illness, generates problems of adaptation to the conditions from the institutional environment, as well as relationship and communication problems corresponding to the level of the group represented by the assistants of the Home for the Elderly - youth without old age. Using only qualitative research methods, due to the emotional load and sensitivity of the investigated topic, we obtained a series of relevant information on the main problems of adapting to the conditions in the center and to the needs of the elderly, in especially related to the aspect of relationships and communication.
